Full Year for Beginners

September – June

Level 1 = Beginner

Full year classes at Level 1 are available in every dance style offered at the studio. Registration is ongoing until January/February, although we recommend that students new to dance register in the fall when classes begin.

We do not recommend for beginners to register for a class after January as, by that time, most cohorts have been dancing and learning together for 4-5 months, and it may be too difficult to catch up.

All registered dancers have the option to perform in the year-end show at the Royal Theatre.

Drop-In Classes

Unsure about committing for a full year? You’ve danced before but it was many years ago? You’ve never tried a particular style or never even danced at all?

You are welcome to drop in to a class of the style you’re interested in before signing up for the full year. Every teacher has a different approach, so you may even want to try multiple classes in one genre but with different teachers to find the best fit for you.

We recommend chatting to the teacher about your dance background as they can often help you find the best level (especially if you’re coming back to dance after a long break or trying a new style).

Our drop-in fee is $22/class, CASH ONLY. If you register for that same class within one week of dropping in, we will credit that $22 toward your full-year registration.

As of March, drop-ins for most classes are not recommended for beginners, as most classes will be preparing for the June show. If you would like to try a class, contact the studio first to find out which classes are available for beginner drop-ins.

Short Series for Beginners

Get Your Feet Wet!

These 8-week courses help you “get your feet wet” and have fun in a dance style that is new to you. Perfect for those who want to dance but can’t sign up for the full year.

We typically offer GYFW classes every January and March/April.

Each class costs $165 (tax included; online cc fees additional).

Summer SWEATS Workshop Series

July – August

Not available to dance during the year or want to try a different dance style?

These 5-day intensives (one week, Monday through Friday evenings) are offered every summer, for beginners and experienced dancers alike, with local, national & international teachers.

Our Summer SWEATS series is the perfect opportunity to learn dance for the first time in a fun, no-pressure environment.

If you’re a beginner, choose Level 1.
