About Raino

OUR MISSION

We harness the alchemy  of dance to encourage a deeper understanding of our creative source, our bodies and our relationships to each other and the greater whole. We honor joyful discipline, inclusivity, empowering and mending of both the individual and the collective/community,  and supporting artists' evolution as choreographers and creators. It is our vision that every person can experience the power of expressive embodiment and connection in an intentional community of movers with the intention of returning dance to its rightful place as a vital & central aspect of human health & community wellness.

Your dance family since 1985

Raino Dance (formerly Lynda Raino Dance) has been an established and unique cultural gem of Victoria, BC, since 1985 when it began with one teacher, Lynda Raino, and one genre of dance, modern. It has spearheaded Big Dance (a dance class just for big woman) and Rust (a dance class for dancers over 60). Its founder, Lynda Raino, received a Woman of Distinction for Arts & Culture award in 1997 and a Lifetime Achievement award in 2010 from Dance Victoria.

In 2012, Lynda’s protégé, creator of the flamenco program, and powerhouse dancer/choreographer/director, Monique Salez, purchased the school. As artistic director, she has revitalized the studio and its branding with an eye to many more decades of dance.

Today after guiding the studio as stormdancers through a pandemic it moves forward as thriving centre for adult dance with professional dance instructors, over 250 students and 8 genres of dance.
